Rambling Session - Checkout (01/30/2024)

I am always looking for ways to improve the shopping experience here at The Cigar Farm. I try to review the website layout and functionality often, and I continually try to think of ways to innovate or upgrade. Something that has been on my mind for a long time has been a way to streamline the checkout experience - primarily, entering payment info.

Currently I only accept cards. I am not permitted, due to the nature of the items being sold, to use options such as PayPal, Shop, or Apple Pay. If it were up to me, I would offer all of those options alongside the traditional card method solely for the ability to checkout using saved payment info.

Let’s be honest, taking your credit card out and punching in your info isn’t hard. The fact that that is an option, the fact that you can purchase a product from the convenience and comfort of your living room and have it show up days later, is truly a privilege. However, I too take that for granted sometimes and find myself groaning that I can’t just login to PayPal or double click my phone’s lock button to avoid getting my wallet out…

I have reviewed several options for providing an easy, quick checkout option. The only way I can at this time would be allowing customers to choose to save their payment info for later use, then it being recalled the next time they checkout. This is great for the customer - quicker, easier process, and it’s better for me - quicker, easier checkout could mean increased conversion rates.

In the (hopefully near) future, when I believe that The Cigar Farm has grown to a level that warrants the investment, I plan to offer that solution. I am just curious: Do you feel this option would be a benefit to you, or is it really not important to you?

Anyhow, my smoke this morning, that I forgot to take a picture of, was a Viso Horny “Uncle Luke” 452. I haven’t smoked one of these in a minute, but it was exactly what I wanted this morning - a bold, earthy, woody maduro. It is a nice little morning smoke.

Take care,

-Trevor
