Company Spotlight Sampler: Crowned Heads
When it comes to innovators or disruptors in the cigar industry, Crowned Heads has to be one of the first names in the discussion. In fact the company began, in some ways, as an act of rebellion against larger players in the industry. Crowned Heads, 11 years after their inaugural release, is now one of the most recognizable and respected players in the game. This sampler and the associated article, available here, are my way of spotlighting this iconic company that doesn’t really need any of my help. This sampler includes five cigars, some newer, some older, that I feel runs the gamut of what you can expect from cigars in the Crowned Heads portfolio.
Le Pâtissier No. 50 is a new regular production release for 2022 that sports a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Ozgener Family Cigars Bosphorous B55 is the inaugural release for Ozgener Family Cigars, the cigar line created by former CAO head Tim Ozgener. This cigar uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with an Ecuadorian Connecticut and Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from Nicaragua.
CHC Serie E Hermoso No. 2 is an ode to the late Eddie Van Halen, and more specifically his iconic instrumental “Eruption”. This cigar utilizes an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper and binder and fillers from Nicaragua.
Four Kicks Capa Especial Corona Gorda is the resurrection of one of the final contenders for the original release Four Kicks line. This version uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan Binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.
Jericho Hill OBS pays homage to Johnny Cash’s performance of “Cocaine Blues” on the legendary “At Folsom Prison” album. The vitolas in this line all also are inspired by this album. The Jericho Hill boast a Mexican San Andres wrapper with binder and fillers from Nicaragua.
