My Desert Island Cigar

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only…? Everyone is familiar with this game and the cigar community is no different. I have heard the question “If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one cigar, what would it be?” plenty of times. I have even heard people skip past the game aspect and refer to a cigar as their “desert island cigar”. Oftentimes this question yields answers with cigars that are super premium, super limited, or maybe even nonexistent anymore. These are fitting answers of course, because often these types of cigars are great and, in this hypothetical game, you aren’t restricted by cost or availability. However, my answer is not some unicorn. Nor is it in its own special, locked humidor at your local B&M.

My “desert island” cigar is a regular production, sub-$8 cigar that I sing praises of quite frequently. It is none other than the Patina Habano Precipitation. This is a 4 x 50 Petit Robusto with an MSRP of $7.95 and comes out of Nicaragua. This cigar has an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan Binder, and Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania Broadleaf fillers. This cigar is not flashy, this cigar is not rare, nor is it old, but it is, without a doubt, my go-to, “desert island” cigar.

This is easily the cigar that I smoke the most of. Now, as someone that is constantly trying new things, or mixing up what they smoke, I may only smoke a few of these a month. However, that is way more than I smoke anything else, and then there are times that I smoke three or four of these in a week. I don’t need to be stuck on a desert island to know that this cigar checks all the boxes for me every single time I light it up. Plenty of flavor - check, complexity - check, great performance - check, perfect vitola - check. To top it off, the precipitation size can be squeezed in if you are short on time, or easily stretched out to over an hour.

Now, I have smoked plenty of cigars that I, in the moment, I would have considered to have “better” or more “unique” flavors and dazzle me with complexity and nuance. However, I must be in the mood for that spectrum of flavors to enjoy that cigar to that level. Not the Patina Habano Precipitation. I can enjoy it any time of day, any day of the year. Thus solidifying, and justifying that “ If I was stuck on a desert island and could only smoke one cigar, it would be the Patina Habano Precipitation.”

If you are interested in reading my review on this cigar, you can do so here. If you are interested, and I think you should be, in trying this cigar, you can purchase them from me here. I believe in this cigar, and I want to get it into as many hands as I can. So for bearing with me through this, I will reward you. For cigar orders over $40.00 on the site, you can add a Patina Habano Precipitation to your cart and enter the code “Desert Island” at checkout, and you will receive that Patina Habano Precipitation for free. This is limited to one use per customer.
